Drones and 3D

Drone photogrammetry and 3D modeling of buildings

We plan capture flights over buildings, facilities and land to produce 3D models, orthomosaics and measurements that support planning, maintenance and damage assessment.

Includes

  • Flight mission planning
  • 3D models and point clouds
  • Georeferenced orthomosaics
  • Integration with maps and atlases

The challenge

Large buildings that are hard to document

Documenting the condition of a building, a stadium or a set of facilities with traditional methods takes weeks and leaves areas unchecked, especially roofs, tall facades and hard-to-reach spaces.

After an event such as an earthquake, having fast, accurate visual information is key to deciding which areas are safe.

Drone photogrammetry captures thousands of photos in a few hours and reconstructs the building in 3D with real-world measurements.

The solution

From flight plan to a model in your browser

Every survey follows five stages. At the end of each one you know what was done and what you receive.

  1. Stage 01

    Flight planning

We define the area, the ground sampling distance (GSD) and the mission type: grid flights for roofs and land, facade missions for walls. We review applicable regulations, airspace restrictions and site authorizations.

Deliverable: Flight plan with area, GSD and permits reviewed

  2. Stage 02

    On-site capture

We fly with precise positioning, proper image overlap and an on-site safety protocol. A large building is usually captured in a single day.

Deliverable: Georeferenced photos of the site

  3. Stage 03

    Photogrammetric processing

We reconstruct the site from the photos on dedicated processing workstations.

Deliverable: Point cloud, textured 3D mesh and orthomosaic

  4. Stage 04

    Measurement and inspection

We measure distances, heights and surface areas, and inspect hard-to-reach roofs and facades for damage. If earlier captures exist, we compare across dates.

Deliverable: Measurements and visual damage review

  5. Stage 05

    Delivery and viewing

We deliver results in standard formats and publish them in a web viewer or in the institution's risk atlas.

Deliverable: Model you can explore in the browser

Benefits

Benefits

Speed in the field

Large areas captured in hours, not weeks.

Risk-free access

Roof and facade inspection without putting staff at risk.

Permanent record

A dated 3D model that serves as a baseline for future comparisons.

Ready-to-integrate data

Results ready to feed into the risk atlas and the institution's systems.

Use cases

Use cases

01

Stadiums and sports facilities

Modeling of roofs and facades for maintenance and planning.

02

Post-earthquake assessment

Rapid visual record of building conditions to support decision-making.

03

Property inventory

Up-to-date orthomosaics of land parcels and building complexes.

04

Heritage and historic buildings

3D documentation of buildings with heritage value.

Every project follows the same process: we understand the operation, model it and validate a prototype before we build.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions: Drones and 3D modeling

What is drone photogrammetry?

It's a technique that reconstructs objects and terrain in 3D from many photos taken from different angles by a drone, producing models with real-world measurements.

What deliverables do I receive?

Depending on the project: a textured 3D model, point cloud, georeferenced orthomosaic, measurements and a browser-based viewer to explore them.

How long does a survey take?

Capturing a large building usually takes one day. Processing time depends on the number of photos and the level of detail required.

Are permits required to fly?

Every flight is planned after reviewing applicable civil aviation regulations, airspace restrictions in the area and the property's authorizations.
